Thank You All!
The WPFC Community’s generosity with pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters and dollars added-up to support the GU12-Black team’s efforts to donate raised dog beds for the Humane Society. The final result was a total of $459.37, plus some food, toys, blankets and a small soft dog bed!
With the generous help of Kuranda, who gave us a very special price, the funds allowed the team to purchase six of the large-sized beds -- each big enough for two to four dogs to share.
To culminate the project, in December, members of the team spent the morning at The Humane Society. First they presented the beds and items to the staff. Next they received a thorough tour of the facility. The girls then assembled the beds and were able to place one into a kennel where it was welcomed and immediately put to use by the two residents. It was a very uplifting experience for all concerned.

Calling all dog lovers!
Finding out that The Humane Society is in "desperate need" of raised dog beds, the GU12-Black team wanted to help! The Humane Society website says... "Blankets are fine, but dogs love a Kuranda bed! These cot-like raised beds are strong, can be disinfected, pressure-washed, and most of all are very comfortable. They also keep the dogs from getting wet when the kennels are cleaned! As sturdy as they are, they do wear out, and we are currently very low on these wonderful beds!" (see http://thehumanesociety.org/news_details.php?newsid=39 for a direct link)
Each bed costs bewteen $50 and $80 depending on size, and the goal is to be able to provide as many beds as possible! Any amount you can give will help! All the proceeds will go to The Humane Society. (If you wish, we welcome and will also collect other items needed by the Humane Society. Their official list is below.)
Our team will be collecting donations at the fields each evening, M-thru-TH, between 6:30 and 7:30, starting THIS MONDAY, 8/24. We will have team members/parents near the parking areas and have a sign up so you can easily find us. We will be wrapping-up collections on MONDAY, Sept 7th and plan to have everything delivered to The Humane Society in September.

· Clay cat litter
· Plastic crates (especially cat-sized)
· Clear plexiglass clipboards
· “Kong” brand dog toys
· AA batteries
· Canned pet food (high quality)
