Wade Webber - Youth Development Director
Wade has spent the past 35 years playing and coaching the game. Wade has twice been named High School Coach of the Year and has had several players go on to play professionally. His playing career, from 1989-1999, included stints with the Portland Timbers, Miami Fusion, Dallas Burn and Seattle Sounders culminating with 2 league titles and one US Open Cup championship. His duties will include overseeing the boys and girls U10-U14, develop coaching curriculum, style of play, camps and academies and act as liaison between WPFC and the Player Development League. Greg Ion - Senior Girls Director
Greg has an extensive professional resume’ including playing in the 1986 FIFA World Cup for Canada. Starting in 1981 as the youngest player ever drafted by the Portland Timbers, Greg’s soccer career has seen him play in the English First Division with Leicester City to stints with the Timbers, Montreal Maniac and Tulsa Roughnecks of the NASL. His indoor career had him playing with the Los Angeles Lasers, San Diego Sockers, Chicago Sting, Kansas City Comets and Tacoma Stars. Greg was a member of the Canadian national team from 1982-1986 appearing in 8 international matches. He is a member of the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame and was recently inducted into the Canadian Soccer Sports Hall of Fame. His duties will include overseeing the U15-U19 girl’s teams, provide training and support to the teams, manage coaches and tryouts and support youth programs. Greg carries a USSF “A” license. Gary Heale - Senior Boys Director
Gary is a pro’s pro. Starting in 1975 Gary played with Canvey Island FC then moved to Luton Town FC for one season. He was then transferred to Reading FC where he played until 1982. That year, he moved to Sparta Rotterdam for the ‘82 season. In 1983 Gary made his US debut playing for the San Diego Sockers. From there he moved onto indoor playing with the Tacoma Stars, St. Louis Storm, Los Angeles Lazers and finally with the Seattle Storm. Gary is the current coach of WPFC’s U16 and U18 entries in the USSF Development Academy and the U15 boy’s team. His duties will include overseeing the U15-U19 boy’s teams, provide training and support to the teams, manage coaches and tryouts and support youth programs. Brian VanBlommestein - Senior Girls Academy Director
Brian has been a part of WPFC for nearly 20 years and will continue to coach the girls U-18 team. Brian’s primary responsibility will be college placement of the junior and senior players within WPFC. Brian’s track record is second to none, most recently placing 17 players onto college rosters from both the ’90 and ’91 teams. Brian’s contacts in the college coaching ranks are legendary and will continue to reap benefits for the players that have the privilege of playing for him. Click here to email Brian.
